The Saint Paul Grand Round is a visionary project to complete a 30 mile scenic parkway with off-street pedestrian and bicycle trails connecting neighborhoods across the entire city of Saint Paul.
The Grand Round is a city-wide asset that has increased walking and biking connections to local businesses and destinations, helped calm traffic in residential neighborhoods, and connected communities across the city.
The Bismarck-Mandan metropolitan area is one of the main hubs of economic activity and innovation in North Dakota, with a population of about 90,000 residents.
CDG developed the pedestrian and bicycle component of the Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) 2015-2040 Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). The LRTP, updated every five years, steers development of the Bismarck-Mandan area's transportation system for the next 20 years and beyond.
CDG worked in close collaboration with Eden Prairie staff and residents to develop the City of Eden Prairie’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan. Deeply informed by an active living perspective, the plan responds to the city’s existing trail assets and to the planned implementation of the Southwest LRT/Green Line Extension, which includes five planned stations within the city.
CDG designed and led a creative and inclusive process of community engagement for the Hennepin County Bicycle Transportation Plan. CDG developed the project’s Community Engagement Plan, developed workshop activities, and led and facilitated listening sessions with communities throughout the county, with special emphasis on connecting with ethnic, cultural and health disparity communities.
Working for the Minnesota Department of Transportation over four funding cycles (2012 to 2017), CDG developed over one hundred Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) plans to improve walking and biking conditions for students at schools throughout Minnesota.
Our services have included everything from detailed site audits, concept development and infrastructure design to programming (non-infrastructure) recommendations, phasing and plan implementation guidance, and ongoing support to schools through engagement with parents and agency partners.
Robbinsdale is a first-ring Twin Cities suburb that is enjoying a resurgence in development and economic activity. Upcoming transportation investments, including the Bottineau LRT line, will more easily and conveniently link its economic, recreational and cultural assets with the metropolitan region and surrounding communities.
Working in close collaboration with city and county staff and community residents, CDG developed the city’s new (and first) Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is developing a plan for a statewide network of bicycle routes to connect local and regional destinations across Minnesota.
Community engagement (conducted statewide) is a vitally-important part of this project as members of the public have insights and experiences that can help MnDOT develop better facilities and routes and ultimately develop a more useful and user-friendly bicycle network throughout the state.
The Metropolitan Council is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region, which encompasses seven counties and is home to 2.9 million residents.
In 2013, the Council conducted a Regional Bicycle System Master Study to develop a set of regional bicycle corridors that would facilitate the use of bicycling for a greater portion of transportation trips.
The Southwest LRT / Green Line Extension will be the Twin Cities metropolitan region's third light rail line, providing service from Downtown Minneapolis to Eden Prairie, with a total of 17 stations along 15 miles of track. As a major transportation investment, Southwest LRT will shape regional access and development for decades to come.
Hennepin County, in developing its first pedestrian plan, sought to maximize opportunity to gather insights from community members living in urban, suburban, and rural communities, with special emphasis on connecting with residents living in low-income and health disparity communities.
